AJAX, which is an acronym for Asynchronous JavaScript and XML, is defined as a set of client-side web development techniques that provide asynchronous responses from the web server. While AJAX may use XML to transport data, JSON (JavaScript Object Notation) and plain text is also a supported method. This means that AJAX allows web pages and web applications to dynamically refresh content, without having to have the user change, update, or reload the page itself, helping to make for a more efficient and seamless experience. For example, AJAX could be used to in an ecommerce path when a user is selecting shipping options. Shipping rates vary by country, so when they input their country, they are presented with the appropriate shipping rates. All the while, the page itself has not been refreshed or reloaded.<\/p>\n
